LAKE ONONDAGA AMPHITHEATRE
ST. JOSEPH'S HEALTH LAKEVIEW AMPHITHEATER
Geddes, New York
The St. Joseph's Health Lakeview Amphitheater is an outdoor entertainment complex designed to hold 5,000 guests in covered seats, and an additional 12, 500 guests in sloped lawn seating. Originally conceived as a revitilzation effort for Onondaga Lake, the Village of Solvay, and the town of Geddes, Onondaga County led the project, with original concept design by C&S Companies and Theatre Projects.
The project is sited at the edge of a park, and next to Lake Onondaga. The facility contains a stagetower with rigging grid, and generous dressing and catering spaces for artists and production staff, including a private patio that overlooks the lake.
Reported to be beloved by artists for the beautiful site, and the well-appointed support spaces, it opened with a performance by Miranda Lambert.
Michael Ferguson provided concept design theatre planning, theatre design, and performance equipment planning as individual effort while at a previous firm.
