KAUFFMAN CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
HELZBERG HALL
Kansas City, Missouri
Helzberg Hall is part of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, and the home of the Kansas City Symphony. Designed by Moshe Safdie, with acoustics by Yasu Toyota of Nagata Acoustics, the vineyard style concert hall shape of this 1,600 seat venue creates an intimacy for both audience and performers, with the audience surrounding the orchestra platform.
The stage features mechanical orchestra lifts, in a multiple ring formation. An overhead reflector was installed as movable, and adjusted, and then permanently fixed.
Michael Ferguson provided theatre planning, theatre design, and performance equipment design and specification as individual effort while at a previous firm.
